Mera Peak Expedition itinerary

Our meticulously crafted itinerary for your Mera Peak Nepal adventure ensures every detail is seamlessly managed from your arrival in Kathmandu. Our team handles essential details such as climbing equipment and necessary permits, striving to deliver a seamless trekking experience.

Your adventure progresses from Khari Khola to the Hinku Valley, where each step presents breathtaking panoramas of lofty mountains and lush forests.

Ascending gradually to Mera Peak Base Camp, the path winds through vibrant rhododendron forests and open alpine meadows. At this stage, captivating views of iconic peaks like Ama Dablam, Kangtega, and Thamserku unfold before you.

Departing from base camp, each step towards the high camp brings you ever closer to the enticing allure of Mera Peak. Following a brief night's sleep, the ascent to the summit begins. This phase is characterized by a steep ascent up a snowy slope. Fixed ropes ensure safety on this stretch.

Day 02                We use this day for the last preparation of your climbing gear and securing the necessary permits for the Mera Peak climb

Day 03                Drive from Kathmandu to Khari Khola (2040 m - 9 hrs.), the starting point of the Mera Peak trek                    

Day 04                Trek to Pangkongma (2850 m – 7 hrs.)

Day 05                Cross over Pangkongma La pass (3174 m) and trek to Kharka (2850 m – 6 hrs.)

Day 06                Trek to Jungle Camp (3160 m – 7 hrs.)

Day 07                Trek to Khote (3600 m – 5 hrs.)

Day 08                Trek to Tangnag (4350 m – 6 hrs.)

Day 09                Resting day at Tangnag for acclimatization

Day 10                Trek to Khare, Mera Peak base camp (4950 m – 5 hrs.)

Day 11                Trek to Mera Peak High Camp (5415 m – 6 hrs.)

Day 12                Mera Peak summit day! Climb to the peak of 6476 meters and overnight at Khare (13 hrs.)

Day 13                Contingency day for Mera Peak summit

Day 14                Trek to Khote (3600 m – 9 hrs.)

Day 15                Trek to Thuli Kharka (4320 m – 6 hrs.)

Best Season for the
Mera Peak Climb

Venturing out to the Mera Peak summit becomes most rewarding when the skies are clear, and the views are unobstructed.

Our experience suggests that the best seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months offer the most stable weather conditions, providing you with a magnificent backdrop for your climb.

What's included and Not included in the Mera Peak trek

The cost of the Mera Peak expedition is dynamic and reflective of trekking seasons, group sizes, and additional logistics. A starting price is provided, with fluctuations expected based on the specific demands of the trekking period.

To ensure that you are well-prepared for the costs, we provide a detailed list of what’s included and excluded in the Mera Peak climb experience.

What’s Included:

·       Airport greetings and transfers between Kathmandu International Airport and your hotel.

·       Four nights of private accommodation with breakfast in Kathmandu.

·       Private drive from Kathmandu to Khari Khola, the starting point of the Mera Peak trek

·       Journey from Lukla to Kathmandu including airport transfers.

·       Guidance by licensed and experienced English-speaking mountain guides.

·       The expertise of a licensed climbing Sherpa, with English proficiency, from Khare to the Mera Peak summit and back.

·       Porter services to lighten your load, with a maximum private luggage allowance of 12 kg per person.

·       Complimentary use of a waterproof bag for your trekking equipment.

·       Accommodations in communal teahouses.

·       Three meals a day (breakfast/ lunch/ dinner) throughout your trek.

·       Camping essentials at Mera Peak High Camp, inclusive of tents and mattresses.

·       Inclusion of essential climbing gear such as ropes, helmets, ice axes, harnesses, and jumars for the ascent.

·       Comprehensive coverage of your guide, Sherpa, and porter(s) needs including salary, food, accommodation, as well as clothing & gear insurance.

·       Fees associated with the Makalu Barun National Park, Mera Peak climbing permits, TIMS card, and local taxes.

·       Full support from the Sherpa Trekking head office based in Kathmandu.

What’s Not Included:

·       International travel arrangements to Kathmandu.

·       The Nepal entry visa is requisite for your stay.

·       Mountain footwear and accessories such as boots (category D/E) and gaiters.

·       Lunches and dinners whilst in Kathmandu.

·       Personal expenses on beverages, amenities like hot showers, online services, laundry, and battery charging during your Mera Peak trek.

·       The expertise of a Kathmandu city guide for any sightseeing excursions.

·       Your travel insurance coverage.

·       Charges related to rescue operations, should there be an emergency.

·       Any additional expenses brought about by changes in the itinerary, whether anticipated or due to unforeseen circumstances.

·       Gratuities for your mountain guide, climbing Sherpa, and porter(s), which are not included but greatly appreciated.
